The Blobfish has received the title as the “Unofficial World’s Ugliest Animal” and we think that’s unfair. Blobfish get their abnormal appearance when they become depressurized and turn into goop. At their natural depths of 3000 feet below the oceans they have a much more picturesque appearance. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and we know that this creature will catch the attention of someone! These elegant fish live in the deep coastal waters around Australia, New Zealand and Tasmania and are often swept up as bycatch from trolling boats. They lack bones, teeth, and swim bladders and are an anomaly among their peers. Not enough information is known about their current conservation status. Give them a voice and speak for the ones who cannot.
